If you enjoy tent camping like me, having a great tent is a priority. After all, a camping tent is your home away from home when you’re living outdoors. And nothing can ruin a trip faster than a cramped, leaky, or complicated tent – I’ve seen firsthand how a complicated tent can make you pack up and leave in frustration (no, it wasn’t me!).
The great news is that tents are relatively inexpensive. This means you can easily upgrade to new tents with features or extra room as your needs evolve as ours did.
And since we just upgraded our tent for camping, I’m excited to share some of the best tents I’ve found…all reasonably priced. Whether you need space for a growing whole family, or something cozy for just a few, I’ve got you covered.
CORE 12-Person Tent – My Pick!
We recently upgraded to this beauty, and let me tell you – it was an immediate game-changer (see my full review here)! We happened to bring our dog along with us for the first time and we’ve just outgrown our trusted 6-person Coleman Naugatuck, so this tent with its massive size and tall, straighter walls was perfect. My husband and I are both over six feet tall, so tent height was important to us this time around – and now standing isn’t an issue. The room divider is a nice feature for privacy or creating two spaces, and there’s plenty of ventilation to keep the insides cooler or aired out. With this tent, we’re able to easily accommodate the four of us, the dog, and all our gear comfortably. Set up was pretty easy and quick too…thanks to the color coding and instructions. I’ll have a full review in an upcoming post but spoiler alert, we’re in love with this tent!
CORE 10-Person Tent
If we didn’t opt for the larger 12-person version, this would be my next choice. It’s still roomy, just a little smaller than the 12-person version, but still plenty of space for us. Set-up is easy, it also has a room divider, great ventilation, and storage pockets to keep everything organized. For families of 4-5 or even a group of friends, this is a great option. Dimensions: 14 by 10 feet with an 86-inch center height; comfortably fits 5 with gear or up to 10 people without gear.

Coleman Evanston Screened 8-Person Tent
Our previous tent was a Coleman and it served us well for many years. This one has a screened-in porch, which is so nice for bug-free lounging or storing muddy shoes. It’s weatherproof, has plenty of space, and sets up in just 15 minutes (which is key when you’re racing against sunset). If you’re looking for a mid-size tent, this one is a classic. Dimensions: 15 x 12 ft. with a center height of 6 ft. and fits 2 queen-size air beds. Includes a 10 x 5 ft. full-floor screen room for outdoor relaxation.

Coleman Sundome 6-Person Tent
This tent is great for people who want something simple, durable, and easy to set up. It’s also good for backpacking or those short weekend trips where you just need a reliable, no-fuss shelter. The WeatherTec system keeps you dry, and it comes in multiple sizes (2/3/4/6-person) depending on how many are tagging along.

CORE 4-Person Tent
Need something a little smaller? The CORE 4-person tent is a solid choice. It’s great for couples or small families, with room for one queen-size airbed or a few sleeping bags. The straight-wall design gives it more headroom than typical dome tents, and like the larger CORE tents, it has excellent ventilation and weather protection. A perfect option for quick getaways or a couple’s camping adventure. Also comes in a 6-person option. Dimensions: 8 by 7 feet with a 72-inch center height; comfortably accommodates 2 people with gear or up to 4 people without gear.

So there you have it—whether you’re in need of a spacious family tent or something small and cozy, these options have you covered. Personally, I’m all about comfort, space, and ease of setup, so the CORE tents have been a win for us. And if you’re like me, you’ll appreciate the extra room for your gear (and your dog).
Happy camping!
